Job scam quick guide: it's a scam if...

  • they want you to collect and forward money in any way (a "money mule" job). You'll wind up engaged in money laundering, personally defrauded via expertly forged cheques, money orders, etc, or defrauding someone else who pays for goods that never arrive.
  • they want you to receive packages and reship them somewhere else. The goods will have been obtained fraudulently, and they're just using you to make the shipping address appear local. You will be aiding fraud.
  • they want up-front payment (either to them or someone else) of any sort for anything before you can get the job. This is advance fee fraud: there is no job -- it's just a big con to extract money from you.
  • they want you to buy any kind of "membership" or "kit" in order to start. Forget it -- it's not a real job at all: they're trying to sell you something, and they're probably making a bunch of other false claims about it if they're pitching it as a "job".
  • it's a job offer, and it's spam. There are LOTS of these scams about, as you can see.

Pes Group Co

I don't know if there's a real "Pes Group" operating somewhere, but this is just a random scammer with a Gmail address, not a legitimate company of any kind. The job title is suggestive of one of the usual money mule scams. Please post further details as comments if you have any.

It is to bad that we are so greedy that some of us actually fall for these scams. It is even wors that there ae so many dishonets people in the world. Since I have had an email address I have won billions in the lotterys and people keep wanting to give me millions of someones estate or money they found during the war ect. the sad thing is people believe them I have seen the CNBC reports on the television. And they get a way with it too. If you fall for one of these scams you desirve it.

STUPID GREEDY BASTARD

Not everyone who falls for a scam is greedy. Some people are just that desparate that they need to believe. If everyone who fell for a scam like this deserved it, I wouldn't pour my efforts into this blog.

It isn't that all people are greedy. I am actually looking for a job and have emailed my resume to just about every opening I can find and I wasn't sure if this email was a response to my efforts or a scam. The only reason I didn't respond to it is because I decided to research the company name and found items like this blog. The people at fault are the scammers themselves. Believe me, when you lose your job out of nowhere and go from 80K a year to like 30 you start to become a little desperate to find a job.

Just had one of these through this morning, but using the PES LLC company name which Googles as a legitimate company in the oil sector.

Watch out!

I just received this scam mail from this douchebag. He actually replied to my horrific email back to him, using his own system. It traces back to a Russian ISP - big suprise.

SCAM (of course)

I've just received one which (at a glance) looks word-for-word identical to the one posted above.

Got precisely the same thing just an hour ago. Don't they ever give up?

I appreciate the heads up and the comments about scams out there. What I would like to know is how do you tell legitimate from scam?
And where do you find the legitimate ones? If they don't ask you for money or ask you to receive packages or ask for your social security number, are they ok? What if the BBB lists them as "satisfactory" with no history of complaints? I'm unemployed, not greedy. I don't want to lose my house. Thanks again for the info.

I received a letter from this company stating that I met all of their qualifications and they wanted me to come in for an interview. Two HUGE red flags;
1. I never submitted my resume to them. (that's kind of a big one)
2. I live in Philadelphia and when I did my research they don't have an office any where near here.
It's a work from home job where you are paid directly from the client in the form of checks, then you send money to them via MoneyGram. I'm sure everyone knows that is completely illegal. I really do hope that no one falls for this scam, I have been out of work for a year and trying desperately to find a job with no success. It's best to just move past any kind of posting like this and keep after employment elsewhere.
