Job scam quick guide: it's a scam if...

  • they want you to collect and forward money in any way (a "money mule" job). You'll wind up engaged in money laundering, personally defrauded via expertly forged cheques, money orders, etc, or defrauding someone else who pays for goods that never arrive.
  • they want you to receive packages and reship them somewhere else. The goods will have been obtained fraudulently, and they're just using you to make the shipping address appear local. You will be aiding fraud.
  • they want up-front payment (either to them or someone else) of any sort for anything before you can get the job. This is advance fee fraud: there is no job -- it's just a big con to extract money from you.
  • they want you to buy any kind of "membership" or "kit" in order to start. Forget it -- it's not a real job at all: they're trying to sell you something, and they're probably making a bunch of other false claims about it if they're pitching it as a "job".
  • it's a job offer, and it's spam. There are LOTS of these scams about, as you can see.

Royal Finance

Thanks to "jalc" for forwarding this one. It's not exactly hot off the press, since "royalfinance.org" was registered in February this year, but I can't find any prior mention of it in my archives. This is a money mule scam, of course.

I started receiving these types of e-mails constantly after posting my resume online. I actually fell for one of them, Eastern Finance Group. STAY AWAY!!

Thanks for your post. I saw something very similar from the Eastern Art Group Ltd and was able to avoid wasting my time thanks to your post.

I'm embarrassed to admit I fell for this scam with Royal Financial. They are really convincing and tell you that they do all the work and you not know anything about trading..etc. You have to start with the minimum of $250. in your account. They use this tactic so that you think you are making a very safe investment. I notices I had put in more money and had a balance over $360. but the balance day after day never changed. I clicked for help and was told to learn from the seminar. What happened to you don't have to learn about this money? I asked why my account was not showing any gains...they didn't know. You need to take the seminar. So I called and demanded my money back. They said it had to be approved. That took about 2 wks. while they are using my money to make money. They finally put it back in my debit card account. I thought..well at least they're honest. Well a week later they took it out again. I guess figure most people don't check their statement. Welll they put us into over draft. We have to pay a $20. fee for every transaction after that so if you don't check you could keep using your dehit card and get charged the $20 fee each time you use it. Needless to say I was "Royally" ripped off. Beware. If they are millionaires who want to help the poor people make money. (what bullshit) then why don't they give you money to get started because maybe you are broke and when the big bucks come in they can just take the $250 back. They also charge fees and I have still to call again and deal with this only this time no phone number available on my statement. I'll go back and look for the number I originalloy called but I bet they moved on to another hotel room or whatever and have a new nulmber. They just keep moving on while ripping suckers like me who can no longer pay the bills for I lost my job and we can't live off my husbands income. Oh well. I'm not greedy. I would have settled for making money in the thousands over a period of time. We don't need to be millionaires/ We are honest Americans who believe in Democaracy and seem to be watching this country and the mega companies are selling us down the river. It seems that most candidates no matter how honest they used to be have to spend so much on campaining all year that the cost is out of this world and we are the ones stuck paying the taxes..Not the upper !%.
Truly,
Maggie

I already wrote my feelings and they are not agreeable to your standards so I guess that you are insulted to hear the truth because you're part of the problem.
