Job scam quick guide: it's a scam if...

  • they want you to collect and forward money in any way (a "money mule" job). You'll wind up engaged in money laundering, personally defrauded via expertly forged cheques, money orders, etc, or defrauding someone else who pays for goods that never arrive.
  • they want you to receive packages and reship them somewhere else. The goods will have been obtained fraudulently, and they're just using you to make the shipping address appear local. You will be aiding fraud.
  • they want up-front payment (either to them or someone else) of any sort for anything before you can get the job. This is advance fee fraud: there is no job -- it's just a big con to extract money from you.
  • they want you to buy any kind of "membership" or "kit" in order to start. Forget it -- it's not a real job at all: they're trying to sell you something, and they're probably making a bunch of other false claims about it if they're pitching it as a "job".
  • it's a job offer, and it's spam. There are LOTS of these scams about, as you can see.

TEIKOKU OIL CO.LTD.
31-10, Hatagaya 1-chome,
Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 151-8565,
Japan.
www.teikokuoil.co.jp   COMPANY REPRENSENTATIVE REQUIRED  I am Mr.Masatoshi Sugioka, Director of TEIKOKU OIL.Teikoku Oil was founded in 1941 as a semi-governmental company in accordance with the Teikoku Oil Law to unify the existing Japanese oil exploration companies at the time, continues to operate with corporate strategies to keep pace with changing times and maintain the momentum of its progress in the steel industry as well as the other businesses in which the Company engages.  Based on the above management principle, Teikoku Oil has been instrumental in securing both domestic and international energy resources as a pioneer of Japan's oil & gas development over the past 65 years.  The structures of many industries are changing at breakneck speed as mergers and restructuring proceed apace. In the thick of these changes, TEIKOKU OIL is working with affiliated companies to attach more weight to well-coordinated management throughout the Group.Specifically, TEIKOKU OIL is positioning three of its businesses-steel sheets, silicon, and steel tubes and pipes, in particular seamless steel pipes-at the core of the Group's operations. The Company is working hard to bolster the efficiency and speed of its management and strengthen its operations by
improving costs, quality, delivery times, and R&D capabilities. The Company is constantly aware of its environmental responsibilities, contributing to environmental preservation on a global scale and the realization of a recycling society.  We want to solicit your attention to receive payment on our company behalf. The purpose of my contacting you is because you live outside Japan.  You do not have to leave your present job for this one because this job offer will be on a part time basis as it comes once in a while and remuneration is on a percentage basis of 10% of the total amount you receive from my customers at any time on my behalf. The reason I seek your assistance is that American and Canadian cheques take a long time to clear here in Japan.  Thereby holding business down for my associates and me. Now I already have customers who are ready to remit cash to me. Please to facilitate the conclusion of this transaction if accepted, do send your inquirings with the following information's below to the company director Mr.Masatoshi SugiokaE-mail: teikokuoilcompany@mail2japan.com  Your full names:

RE:Teikoku Oil

I have received email from someone identifying themselves as Masatoshi Sugioka of Teikoku Oil.They were requesting someone to be their company representative to collect accounts receivables for them and forward to the proceeds less 10% fee they pay.
THey asked me to contact a Roland Johanson ,whom I emailed, and he phoned me and made acommitment to Fed Ex a cheque for $86,000.00 .
The whole thing seems under the category'to good to be true',so I have done some checking.I came across this site Suckers Wanted",when I searched the name Masatohi Sugioka, and then read this article. Is this thing some kind of bogus scam,as indicated here?I did look up the company, and saw the english version of the website ,which looked like a regular corportate website filled with information. The Japanese version of the site was a very wierd site with indecipherealbe Japanese script and lots of moving Anime cartoon characters. I realised that the site could be fake,or it may be real and the scammers are using a real company and person to front the scam.
I have not received anything yet,and informed them I would wait for the cheque to clear before depositing or forwarding anything.
I do not wnat to participate in an illegal activity that is ripping anyone off.Is that what this is?It seesm to be identified as such here....but there is not much specific comment on it on this site.If you have any other info about this scam and its perpetrators.please let me know, even if its just to verify that it is a scam. You can email me at redbellet@yahoo.com....Dan.

I found this blog through google and the phone number - 905-598-6679.

Seems that the new scam is Hokuetsu Metals - I wrote a blog about that email scam Jan 23, 2009, http://gotojenniferfisher.com/jensblog/2009/01/hokuetsu/

People need to realize that legitimate companies DO NOT EVER go outside their company employees and solicit blindly on the internet for someone to process money for them.

It's a SCAM !!! and it's called money laundering here in the US.

To All,
Please be advised that giving ANT information out to anyone online will probably result in the Liquidation of you Cetui Que account.
The BOPD denies its existence but anyone withy the time and intelligence can research this and find that the elite have indeed created these accounts. These are not however expressed trusts they are beneficiary trusts with the complete control in the hands of the Trustee/trustees. Many of us are searching out means to Liquidate these accounts personally but somehow these outsiders know they exist and how to Liquidate them. Someone has given them this information and the sheer numbers of groups doing this suggests a collaboration with someone or a group of someones on the inside. Be careful.

I did not reply.

They are the same in as much as they are both scams, and that's all that matters. There may be a perfectly real and legitimate company by the name of "Teikoku Tradings" somewhere, but if so, they aren't offering "collection representative" jobs, and they probably don't use sina.com (a Chinese free webmail service) for their email.

Now the crazy name email (which was a compilation of names associated with different cultures) doesn't even show up.

The initial contact was made through linked-in

Here is my reply ...

My reply ....

Dear Amon,

Kind thanks for your mail and an explanation of your needs and offering.

On the surface, this sounds really appealing to me, and I have good news. Based upon your description, I have all the necessary skill sets to fulfill your requirements.

Having operated my own multi-million dollar corporations myself, I assure you I am shrewd and also very careful in my business dealings. I would be of great benefit to you, based upon your description.

However, for the very same reason, I have many questions that would need to be satisfied before I could commit to such an endeavour, and therefore, should you wish to move forward with myself, as you require more information from myself, so too will I require more about your company and this function you require me to assist with.

Please be advised that I will only assist in legal dealings as per the laws in Canada and elsewhere as you may require (as I am available to travel) and that I will vett this opportunity with both my bank manager and my lawyer to assure that it is legitimate and that I am not being engaged in anything that requires a risk of financial transactions or reputation.

I have also travelled throughout Asia in the last two years and am ready and willing to do so if necessary should the company require it.

The best way for you to learn more about myself is to view my linked-in profile which is where I also have my resume posted. Your colleague initially contacted me from there.

For your convenience, here is the link.

Public Profilehttps://ca.linkedin.com/in/XXX

Could you please confirm your company website domain for my research because it doesn't work here for me. Additionally and interestingly enough, an initial Google search yields no hits. Also could I please view your linked-in profile as well?

Sincerely,

XXX.

Then I sent the following e-mail to Tokyo chamber of commerce and cc'd Canadian Govt anti fraud dept.
Dear Sirs.

I received the following e-mail here in Canada. I am suspicious and was wondering if you could confirm for me the legitimacy of this company?

Sincere thanks!

XXX

noshirosteel.com is highly suspicious. The domain was registered anonymously on 27-Aug-2015 (i.e. about a week ago at the time this comment is posted). I suggest you assume that anything associated with it is a scam.

I also received the Noshiro Iron Steel email thanks to a contact through LinkedIn. The contact, a certain Jimmy Edwards, has since disappeared from LinkedIn.

The email received today approving me as a Rep included a phone number for Amon Benito, +81345793304, who I could "try" to call.

The Noshiro.com website looks nice, but has no content, with images probably copied from some other site or stock images.

Definitely a scam.

Have the same experience with this individual:

I wanted to get further to see if it is legitimate or, otherwise.

They contacted me on "behalf of" two different companies.

I'll report to as many interested agencies as possible.

10th Power Inc.
And:
Noshiro Steel Iron Co.

This is the latest email:
Hello ______,

How are you today , I have just received an update from the company customer that he has sent part payment from the money owed to the company to you from their cooperate account in the amount of $29,000.00

As soon as you receive the check, kindly proceed with deposit and do endeavor to send us a scanned copy of the deposit receipt for documentation purpose.

We shall give you further instructions as soon as you have received and deposited the payment.

I would await to hear back from you,

Regards

This is where I'm going to collect any cheque they give to me
